Futuring cities
On Thursday 11th December 2014 – from 9am to 6pm in Lyon
The theme for the third day of the “Futuring cities” initiative for the future of urban areas by IMT will be Town Planning and Quality of Life. It will be held at the Forum des Interconnectés, the exhibition for innovative districts, in Lyon (La Sucrière).
Cities and their associated districts are expanding and becoming denser and more complex. They are at the heart of a demographic, digital, energy-related, ecological and political metamorphosis, and the explosion of digital technology and new associated uses is leading to a change in the way citizens and public authorities consider and experience town planning and development. IMT invites you to connect and share foresights and technological, economic and human visions in the Futuring cities project, in order to support the harmonious, large-scale development of urban areas.
The precise aim of this event focusing on town planning and quality of life, to be held on December 11th, is to show how the evolution of digital tools and lifestyles (work, mobility, businesses and services) leads us to identify new directions for the development of urban areas.
Researchers from Télécom SudParis, Télécom Paris, Mines Saint-Etienne and Mines Alès will be taking part in the day, which will include:

Futuring cities is an initiative by IMT, renowned for its engineering and management graduate schools throughout France. The initiative is aimed at communities and enterprises wishing to be part of the ecological and energy transition and digital transformation and to rise to the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s society. The initiative brings together the scientific expertise of researchers at the Institute’s schools with contributors to change.
